So, where do we go from here – as a church and as individuals? God knows we are all busy – many of us on overload. Yet we all want to keep moving toward Christ. To make sense of our lives. To prioritize. To simplify. To focus on what’s important.
Our goal for the next year is to help each other live healthier lives with more energy, more joy, more hope, more purpose. And more impact. By raising the bar – for each other and ourselves – and by making a lifestyle shift, we can change the direction and the substance of our lives. Here are five points of focus to start making that happen:
Keep the conversation with Jesus going. And growing. Get closer to God by regularly studying His teachings. Want to know how to relate to your spouse? Succeed at your job? Forgive an injury? It’s all in your Bible.
Share God’s love. Sometimes you’re given the perfect opening to invite someone to church. Other times, you need to find common ground and cultivate it before you extend the invitation. Do whatever it takes to “open the door” for others.
Cultivate friendships that define “meaningful.” Develop reciprocal relationships with people who will encourage you to become the person God meant you to be. People who expect you’ll do the same for them.
Help someone. It’s that simple. Serve at the homeless shelter, help in the nursery, make coffee – you choose. Make a habit of serving others; you’ll be surprised by the good it does you.
What’s your next right thing? Maybe it’s joining a small group. Dating your mate. Giving up the remote. Making that long overdue apology. Question is, who are you when nobody’s looking - and who do you want to be?
