Food Boxing

Join us the first Thursday of every month as we prepare boxes of food to distribute in the Square Mile.  We need a lot of help to prepare, fill and load the boxes!  If you'd like to help with distributing the boxes too, we do that every Friday from 1 - 3 pm.  Come help at both events, or just one -- whatever fits your schedule best!

Registration:  None. Just show up!

Food Box Distribution

Join us every Friday as we distribute the food boxes we packed on the first Thursday of the month.  The food boxes are delivered to needy families in the Square Mile.  If you'd like to help with packing the boxes too, we do that on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm.  Come help at both events, or just one -- whatever fits your schedule best!

Handy Hearts Home Chores

Here's a service project for our handy men and women and older youth!  We have many friends in the Square Mile who are ill or elderly that need help with basic home chores.  This ministry is set up to help those who can't help themselves in this area.  Homeowners put in their requests for assistance with SWIC (South West Improvement Council) and are placed on a wait list.  Volunteers from within their own neighborhood or from Mountainview take on these jobs and tackle the chores.

The jobs on the wait list include simple tasks like cleaning gutters or helping with household cleaning.  The job list also includes more time-consuming tasks like painting a porch or the trim around windows and doors.  There may also be homeowners who need help with things like changing light bulbs in overhead fixtures, or replacing parts in a toilet tank.  And there are usually "yard work" chores on the list as well.

The list is constantly changing with tasks being completed and new tasks being added to the list.  To find out if there are tasks on the list that match your "home chores skill set", please contact us!  We'd love to have some of your time in support of this very important ministry in our Square Mile!

When:  Whenever you can help.  Once you've selected a job from the task list, you can arrange to do the work at a time that suits you and the homeowner.  (The homeowners are very anxious for the help, so they're schedules are usually very flexible!)
Cost:  None.  The homeowners purchase the supplies you need to do the work, they just need your labor and expertise.
